PASSION (Yuuji)

Belive it or not, but this manwha was my first one that I ever read. Lol, I think I was on Paper.io or some crap, for some reason, then I saw an ad for this and was like, "Why not." I got super into it really fast, and to this day, this Manwha is one of my top favorites. I would give it a shot of you're into military life, drama, and a more realalistic BL. But if you're more into fluff and lovey stuff, I wouldn't go for this if I were you. I will admit, when I was first reading it, I was surprised at the themes that you don't commonly see in BL, such as rape, a lot of blood, sometimes toxic relationships, and more. But, if you don't mind these that much, I would totally recomend this!

This webtoon my absolute fav and I end up read the novel.

But I gave you a warning since it's sensitive, faaar later in the webtoon, you will find rape but the way how it's handled is far better than many other BL title I have experience. Fyi I have almost 20 years of experience reading BL (yeah, I'm old hag already lol) where I grew up reading the rape to love type of story but this series is definitely different and believable unlike typical rape to love type of plot.

The rape happen in season 3 and there is forced sex in end of story if they followed the novel plot religiously. I personally shocked how the rape happened so much later in the story after everything being so consent at the beginning. But by the time you discover it maybe you already love the couple so much and you just can't drop this series. It also contain friends with benefit before soon turn into love, a bit psychopath and lunatic seme, and also murder. So if you're not into this theme, don't read this.

Ok, aside from the rapey thing, I understand why the webtoon that based on 2006 novel have large passionate fanbase in Korea and growing fanbase around the world. The story is one of the kind and you won't find it everywhere else. It's set on modern world and not in some AU where it felt unrealistic. Usually when you read too realistic story, you will find the story is boring and follow typical pattern, it was not the case in this series. It is a slow burn story with such build up, and heavily focus on plot.

As for plot, At first, it seems like love triangle in military life, but it's actually more than that. Seems like a dark story, but actually it bring so much emotional roller coaster, and the humor is really surprisingly good! I can't count how many times I laughed reading a silly situation but it become tensed in the next few seconds. I love the plot twist, unexpected surprise, originality, psychological rollercoaster, and sense of humor in this BL. The dynamic between MC and the love rival also entertaining to watch.

As for art, it's top notch. Depending of your taste, in my opinion, the art is so beautiful. The MC is looked like a typical shonen manga protagonist, but it's actually BL and it found it interesting. Since so many passionate fans would eagerly buy anything related to this series, I see the webtoon developed carefully, both to achieve the precise adaptation of novel with beautifully drawn webtoon. If you bought the korea webtoon and see the comments, you will find the fans who read the novel praises the webtoon adaptation since they tried to make it perfectly.

Anyway, you won't find much lovey dovey interaction, sweet talks as they rarely talk about it

even after in the end. But they obsessed each other so much and do crazy things beyond normal boundaries to be together. If you like fluff short story, read elsewhere. There is more cute interaction in later set of novel, and I really hope the next set of novel could adapted too since it's really good.

I don't understand why it's in the Yaoi/BL category! Since there is no love in this story, calling it “Boys Love” is incorrect. There is neither a romance nor is there any chemistry between MC and Ml. It's just a smut drama but definitely not BL. Therefore I will drop it. My assessment is based on the specified category.

Welp. I have no idea what the hell is going on. I've only read the manhwa so...yeah. Color me confused and irritated. I need clear delineation of relationships. This whole "are they a couple or not" is straight up bullshit for me.

I think it has to do with my severe dislike of cheating and here it seems like everyone are (forced) fuck buddies so NO one should be feeling ANY type of way because NO one is in a true, monogamous relationship yet here we are with hurt feelers and shit.

Yeah, nope. I'm done. Read up to season 3 ending and I'm dropping this.

Honestly I never rate series, but this one is one of my absolute faves. I’ve read the novels, so part of my rating comes from them as well. I’m not sure if the comic will cover the whole story (it’s a bunch of novels. I think there’s 4 anthologies of 3-6 novels each).
Anyway, if the comic only covers the first series, then people are only going to get the beginning of the character development. I really enjoyed watching a certain character grow. There were a few sweet moments in the next two anthologies.

Sometimes is better when a manhwa have such a huge build up to understand the whole story. I really like this manhwa. I think it's gonna be one of my alltime favorites ^^

Hmm.. this webtoon has such a huge build up. The whole first season was just a set up with no progress or character development. Depending on the outcome it could either be a great or horrible thing that they're spending so much time on it. The characters are all still a mystery, and I'm really curious to find out about how Ilay became so ruthless. Shinru and Taeui's brother seem a bit suspicious so it'll be interesting if the story unveils more about them as well. I just hope whatever they're building up to doesn't disappoint. If you're looking for something short and to the point, this is not it.

Edit: I expected too much.. these characters are just trash, and Ilay's character development is heading in an obvious direction. The art is definitely carrying the story hard.. I'll finish the series mainly because of the artwork.
