The tale follows a young gladiator slave in an underground arena who knows little about his past or how he arrived there, only that his name is Aegir and that he possesses great strength. One day, he defeats the arena boss and escapes, eventually joining a group of mercenaries as a new recruit. During one mission, they encounter Lucy, a vampire with immense power who annihilates the mercenary band. Realizing Aegir's sole skill is killing, Lucy takes him in, educating and caring for him over the next two years. On the day Aegir leaves, they make a pact: if he becomes king and claims the land of Erg forest, he can return to take her as his queen. With this goal in mind, Aegir embarks on a journey to become a hero, a king, and establish his own kingdom. This story is based on the original manga.
