What we know is that choujin powers come from something called "super cell", but what this cell is isn't explained really, because I think even people in this world don't truly understand it.
Theory crafting a little, it could be this "cell" allows choujin to connect to some "dimension" where they pull energy to fuel their abilities, but how the mechanics of that work... well, you guess would be as good as mine.
