The quality of the translation still has a lot of issues. The less hurdles you need go go through to understand a manga the smoother and more enjoyable the reading experience is. At the end of the day a manga is a piece of art and a bad job of scanlating can give the manga the feeling of it being a cheap knock off when it deserves better.
That is not to say I dont appreciate the scanlators. I will still ask that they do a minimum quality job on the scan to respect the original work, and arguably the current quality sometimes does not.
I thought the ending was damn near perfect. One of AOT’s major themes was the never-ending cycles of human violence/hatred. Eren’s decision was morally evil but not unexpected as the byproduct of Marley’s hatred (whose hatred was fueled by Eldia’s genocidal past). Upon touching Historia, Eren learned that he’d do one of the most destructive and morally reprehensible things he could have ever seen. He sought any other way out, but ultimately I think he knew it was inevitable. It explains his quiet resignation and almost complete despair after touching Historia. He was so obviously distraught and depressed throughout it all that I’m honestly surprised people were upset about the “pathetic” breakdown Eren had at final chapter. Like bruh this literally a story filled with severely traumatized humans somewhat stunted at the ages at which they experienced their severe traumas and that are constantly depicted as absolutely drained.
