I tried reading this when I was feeling fine and bored -> not very interested and gave an ok feel. Meh (like a 6-7/10) I couldn't "feel" it.
I tried reading this when I was tired and had a migraine (and was experiencing some weird ass mood swings---almost depressive manic and intrusive self harm thoughts) -> it actually removed my migraine like WTF (after reading 3-5 chapters). Maybe the themes and stars aligned uhhh huh? (a 10/10) I could feel the themes and motifs this series was going for. As if my mind was synchronized with the characters and I was able to find it relatable.
I guess that I can add it to my list of solutions for my Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) Self Help guideline...
All in all, if I try to to classify it objectively... It would be a fluffy SoL (with vibes in the veins of Natsume Yuujincho, Frieren of the Funeral, and Chicken Soup for the Soul thing) but focuses mostly on episodic resolving situations; characters are also recurrent and they don't disappear after one or two introduction. tl;dr: Feel good comfort food.
It's not dramatic, it's very good for decompressing yourself after a tired, painful day. (It introduces "drama" but resolves them in a satisfying way and helps you visualize through the characters on how they reconcile their mental troubles). It's chill.
Drawing wise, the art is very good and so is the paneling. It's short but effective. It doesn't overextend itself and feels very to the point and concise while still managing it to make it feel the slow pace.
I really like this manga. The characters are nice and funny. Although there are darker themes like suicide in it, the story focuses on rediscovering the joyous moments in life. It makes the small moments fun and I enjoy the dynamics between the characters. It's also reminded me how much I like tanukis as well😊. I suggest anyone give it a read!
