    i wouldn't even call it 'low self-esteem' at this point, but the mc's total lack of self-awareness is incredibly annoying. coupled with his insistent refusal to communicate with other people on the most simple things and his persistent assumptions of how things work, it's easy to understand how he couldn't get along with the previous party, and even see how this lack of communication with his other team members might have created deep misunderstandings not just about himself but about others involved with him, and so ultimately that means he's partly responsibly for the hero party's failures even now when he has been chased out.
