Netkama – a male who presents himself as female on the internet. This is the path Kim Seyeong chooses after crossing paths again with Shin Heejae, the person responsible for ruining Seyeong's gaming career.

I loved it! I wish the story had never ended. What I liked best was that the relationships were realistic, the feelings were ambiguous and the characters took their time (just like in real life).
Oh, and it was great fun too. I'm desperate to have finished it.
It's been a while since I've finished the series so it's a bit foggy in my brain, but from what I remembered of it, I liked how the story handled how they fell in love, and highlighted how their individual traumas affected how they interacted with each other and their struggles.
Overall I'm pretty happy with the story~
This manhwa initially made me very annoyed with the li, I was all for the revenge plot. I wanted to see jeehae be humiliated and I really didn't want seyoung to fall for him since the build-up and tension around them felt corny (For lack of a better word).
But the story just goes into chaos quickly and suddenly, it becomes just constant aggression from both main characters. At first, I thought it would be an amateur modern adaption of "taming of the shrew" but with the shrew being able to leave the castle. As the story went on, it allows the reader more and more glimpses of both characters projecting a persona because of their pasts.
I really love stories where they don't outright flaunt a romantic atmosphere and it focuses more on character dynamics. It feels more authentic to have characters build on their personalities than to just slap on a "i fell in love with them and i will only display acts of love for the rest of the story"
Overall, I loved how difficult the road to the end was. I felt like I was watching a Shameless episode because of how frustrating and satisfying the story was. Love is petty and nice and people f-cking up on the journey to it is funny as hell. Truly one of my fav manhwas because of how much it felt like one of those water park rollercoasters, you will be a dizzy and energized mess by the end of the story (-- --;)
Really? This story is 8.4 for you all?? ML didn't even confess that he wasn't sincere while approaching to the MC. That's lying in my eyes. MC was annoying too, all he did was screaming and hitting. Couldn't care less about the gamer stuff btw. Also, why did we read the same story from ML's POV. CUT IT SHORT... It felt like the author couldn't find something else to write.
It was a rollercoaster ride, and I seriously kept my guard throughout the story. I'm not a fan of stories with one MC who is overly salty, but the storyline was good enough to read.
The revenge was pleasant to behold, then the aftermath will give you a thrill, but as the trauma they carry starts to appear, it becomes more deeper than I imagined. There is a decent pace of healing, and they find home and warmth with each other.
I wanted to wait until there were more chapters out (only 23 at the moment) before leaving a review, but I can't sit here and say nothing when the only reviews currently here are saying the art isn't good. If it was just meh I wouldn't care, but the art is actually really good.
Aesthetically I'd say it's probably in the upper range of average for manhwa art, like when I first started reading this it wasn't something I thought I needed to take screenshots of and show people so they could see how beautiful the art is, but it's drawn well and doesn't use a ton of obvious assets that stick out like a sore thumb. However, where it really shines is conveying emotions through different lighting, posture, angles, and facial expressions. I've seen many a manhwa that people claim has "amazing art" that in reality has pretty art, but it sucks at actually doing the important parts of getting across emotions or telling the story it's trying to tell, so I really value manhwa art that excels in the storytelling aspect and makes me feel invested in the characters.
Both Seyeong and Heejae are pretty bad at actually verbalizing how they're really feeling, Heejae's facade is usually cheerful, playful, and teasing (which really is part of who he is, but there's way more below the surface), and Seyeong's a tsundere with a hardcore copium addiction, so even his internal monologue isn't always honest, but there are so many scenes where even though little is said, their expressions say so much, it's really good showing rather than telling.
In particular, what made me really notice the art was
This actually has a promo drawn by Whale, the artist of Raeliana, and I checked it out after getting into this series and was surprised to find that I actually like the serialized art better than the promo art. In the promo, it ends on the scene where
They manage to do a great job shifting between different moods without it feeling jarring too, there'll be a funny moment in between two serious ones and it doesn't feel out of place at all, or a mostly comedic interaction will shift to a serious one, and it doesn't have that tonal disconnect that can happen when a comedic manhwa has a serious moment and it feels out of place and like the mood came from nowhere, the transitions feel natural.
In terms of the story, it's still early on, but I really like it, way more than I anticipated I would. I only started reading it because tappytoon was offering a couple free tickets, and it looked like it would be cute, lighthearted, non-smut BL fluff, but I was not prepared for the absolutely wild direction it went in, it completely caught me off guard.
The MC was pretty much how I expected him to be based on the description, hot-tempered, impulsive, and constantly digging his own grave, and while it's funny, sometimes it's hard to watch and makes me cringe. He's grown on me though, and as much as it gets him into trouble, that tenacity of his is also a strength. He's definitely not one of those MCs who can be frustrating because they're whiny and weak and damsel-y. He's very tsundere, so his personality is a bit cat-like, but at times with his short temper he really reminds me of a chihuahua that goes and picks a fight with a dog ten times its own size. Is he brave, or just stupid? Maybe a bit of both.
I ended up reading the first few chapters of the novel, and it's interesting how the manhwa adaptation decided to start it off differently by
I was really on board with the theory that
It's impressive (and a testament to the artist) how
I'm caught up and will probably follow this series week by week on tappytoon. I like it better than My Darling Signed In, which is kinda unfair to compare since they mainly have Online Gaming and Deception in common. Chapter 14 is when it seems like
I try not to be too critical of it. The story is good and the main character's expressions are entertaining. The art is not that great; it's okay. It feels like it lands every major plot point at a good pace, but during the time between, I wish they would put more detail to develop the characters further.
The web novel for this was fun to read so I'm glad its being adapted into a webtoon. The art is kind of disappointing, but I'll still finish it since the story was pretty entertaining. Warning to anybody interested in this, Heejae is kind of a problematic stalker and Seyoung is an extreme tsundere... but if you don't take it too seriously its a good read.
