The protagonist, who rarely attended school during his middle and high school years, found himself unemployed as an adult. From morning till night, his life revolved around video games. As the world's top-ranked player, gaming was his entire existence. One day, his character was suddenly hacked, and the data was lost forever, leaving him with no recourse. Overwhelmed by despair at losing the rank he had strived so hard to achieve in the world that controlled his life, the protagonist attempts suicide.
When he awakens, he finds himself inside what seems like the video game, but it is a real world that closely resembles it. There, he realizes he has been reborn into the body of a side character he had created long ago, purchased premium benefits for, but eventually neglected.
