It's such a shame that this amazing piece of work got stained by the stupid mangaka's actions. This is one of the best shonen out there, it is really well done from start to finish, the story gets better as it goes along, and the art is really consistent and it gets even better in later arcs. Such shame, because this is one of those manga that's worth trying to separate art from the artist for. 10 out 10, one of the greats.

She knew they would be as stubborn as she is so they wouldn't listen to reason. As such she had to kill off their physical bodies but she can't kill their spirit/will which combined with her.

Whatever I thought was going to happen, that was not it. If she was trying to make it obvious she threw the fight, then someone's probably trying to bring down the whole operation. If the fans start to get suspicious, betting stops, and people might stop coming to matches entirely.
