So basically skull knight was probably the king gaeseric, what with his love for skull helmets. He got eclipsed along with his lover, she died, he escaped. I think his lover was the queen of the elves at that time? He eventually dons the berserker armor crafted by that blacksmith guy, he probably ends up overusing it, gets consumed, reduced to a spirit or something, confined inside of the current skull knight armor to be able to fight the god hand for eternity. Multiple lines of dialogue throughout the text mentions how he died and it's likely both in the figurative and literal sense. He's obviously supernatural so who knows what crazy magical shit Miura cooked up before his untimely passing. Im becoming stir crazy from the gaps between chapters and it's just made me want to theorize about who tf the gigachad skull knight is
