If you are looking for a manhua to read about a badass, ruthless mc, then this is it. Personally, I don't find good hearted people to be badass, rather their foolish naive individuals. MC is realistic and based as heck. Its not some trash manhua where mc is claimed to be villain, but turns to be not that bad of a guy. He actually IS very evil and bad, which makes him original and badass. Cunning, cruel, ruthless, manipulative, charming, what else can a based mc need? No compassion here, hehe even his wife is a mere pawn to him 10/10 just for the mc personality
Awkward to rate, honestly. The series starts out with him (a random) just reincarnating into a villain's body, with a system. The start draws you in because it's more about face-slapping the 'protagonists' and getting some hot wives, and he's not really villainous. AND THEN, the protagonists (plural, because we move on from one to another) are all shown to be really not heroic at all - they're kinda trash.
Honestly, if it stayed like that, I would've enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the MC decisively proves that he is also a rapist scumbag villain, like the body he reincarnated into. So... yeah. I can't root for that type of character at all. And then of course, the protagonists actually start being good guys (rather than the first few who were trash in disguise). Then instead of convincing the heroines he's not that bad, and doing some manipulations, he's straight up brainwashing them and/or sealing their souls, infesting them with demonic items, etc.
So basically the start of the series implies he's not that bad, but dealing with being reincarnated into a villain, dealing with other villains, but not that long after he's an actual villain, and the people he's opposing are good guys (not all of them, but some definitely are).
Then to further confuse how to rate this series, the fact lies that the art is actually damn good, most of the characters are very well designed (and the women are super hot!), and the pacing is pretty good. I've seen the occasional part that didn't make much sense and people in the comments mentioned that the novel provides more detail, etc., but for the most part as an adaption, this is really good quality.
Too bad I can't root for this story. It's not even something you can enjoy getting people who betrayed the MC getting karma like a good revenge-flick either. It's just straight up this psychopathic rapist who kills and manipulates everyone. Even if they're innocent bystanders. ESPECIALLY if they're innocent.
i understand that the mc is a villain and thats the whole point but like that doesnt change the fact that i cant root for this guy. like he straight up a rapist and you expect me to want him to win?? reading this just makes me more and more angry about him being so fucking op that nobody will ever be able to do anything to him.
If you hate the generic hero-protagonist trope or clichés and happy endings where the "guy gets the girl." This one's for you on the surface. But as you read you start to realize he isn't really different from a trope, cliche standpoint. He's a chosen one but for evil. He gets a harem through either his charisma (the default method) or force (rape or enslavement). He's also reincarnated into a high-noble, incredibly powerful family and realm, so his start-up wasn't very hard either. As if he was just born special.
I would rate this highly like a 9 if not for the fact a lot of these "hero protagonists" deaths come off more sympathetic. My main issue with the story so far is how easy it all is for Gu Changge to get what he wants. There's not really a challenge and nothing can threaten him due to how overpowered he is and how every other character range from being naive to foolish.
N/A
Things just happen at break neck speed. Maybe it works if you read the novel. The MC is really a villain, which I don't think is a plus. For example, he nonchalantly murders a clan of innocent people to get some extra XP points. Most of the people he kills are assholes themselves, so it doesn't matter, but sometimes he kills their friends simply for existing.
There are no stakes, you are never in doubt the MC will win, which I think is boring. It isn't even like the MC makes any great plans or anything, he is just OP from the first moment.
No one has a real personality, including the MC. They are just plot devices in a bad plot.
Art is quite good, though I think the MC is not as good looking as he is supposed to be.
Protagonist is the final evil boss character and not secretly good. It’s kind of fun to watch him encounter all of the hero tropes and defeat them one by one.
Also, the MC is a transmigrator. We know this because it is mentioned one time. We never learn who he was, where or when he lived, or anything else about him. He has no apparent personality separate from the guy he becomes. No backstory. No name. No flashbacks to a previous life. No panel showing what he looked like before. There is no adjustment period of any kind. Sometimes he remembers very elaborate plots he put in place before transmigrating. Sometimes he says things like, “gosh I guess this guy I am now did some pretty bad things in the past,” as if he doesn’t remember.
He has one of those game systems, but nobody else does.
Characters appear in the story. Then they disappear from the story.
Fights are solved by who has the higher level and not by strategy, tactic, techniques, luck, etc. The MC has the highest level, so the outcomes are a foregone conclusion every single time.
If you don’t know wuxia tropes really well or don’t know the cultural references, it is impossible to follow beyond “bwa ha ha, I’m evil and always win.” Like, suddenly there are bird people. People are in a realm. Now they are going to another realm. Everyone can fly, mostly. This clan is important. Something, something Taoism.
Highly Recommend
Amazing novel about transmigrator who gets a system to help him crush 'fated protagonists'. Similar to History's Strongest Big Brother, but I'd argue more focused around the central premise.
The MC is casually cruel, he enjoys playing with people and at one point casually destroyed a sect on a whim. I'd argue he truly is a villain, which makes it enjoyable to follow him as the MC.
That said, the so called 'fated protagonists' aren't exactly righteous people either. This novel does an excellent job of showing the other side of typical Xianxia Mass Murdering Chad MCs, and just how evil they can be.
Only criticism of the novel so far is that the MC seems to be powering up too quickly. I am worried that the power creep might ruin the mid/late stages of the novel.
Here! is the novel
