Now my little bit to add on this:

It is nihilistic, kind of absurd, but doesn't lament or try to wallow in that nihilism like other works *cough* *cough* (Boy's Abyss) and instead gives a kind of grey or even hopeful tone in that there will always be something out there to persevere or replace that "model" or "human being". But at the same time make those same mistakes, but also the same opportunity to maybe learn indirectly from its predecessor. Which is illustrated by the new class rep's visions, and the new alien race invading. This is all left up to interpretation though and not spelled out for the reader. Which has led to some people's frustration. But I feel the ending works perfectly for this short read. It takes these ideas and scenarios in the story and wraps things up semi neatly
