The guilds were supposed to bid in to join the raid and planned to side with the Messiah, but the MC offered most of the spots for the other guilds for free. Then, instead of a bet MC asked them to pay a legendary item upfront to get carried on the raid, saving their members of the risks (this is still the highest ranked gate attemped to date).
