Never really grows old. It keeps a very consistent quality all the way, even after 16 volumes it's still the same. While the comedy is a bit repetitive, mainly coming from everyone acting weird and the protagonist getting annoyed/weirded out resulting in tsukommis/retorts, it does exactly what it set out to do.
It's a random gag comedy with zero drama, zero story progression and every chapter is merely episodic where the author tries out one situation after another. It never strays from the core concept but at the same time every scene is different even if the retorts often end up being very similar and the characters often acting in a repetitive way. It feels fresh enough to enjoy since the author makes sure to have a new spin/setting every chapter or mini-arc of a few chapters, be it in the school clubroom, the school festival, outside of school, various weird competitions, weird games and so on. What happens is very weird yet at the same time not so out there that you feel like it's impossible. It keeps a sense of very slight realism in that it would certainly be possible that these things happen if you assemble every weird, wacky person around and a straight man or two and then let them do whatever they want.
It's not a masterpiece, but it's an entertaining read and I never felt like I wanted to drop it. While there aren't tons of laugh out loud moments for me, I did smile a lot. Know what you're in for and don't expect any plot, just expect gag-like situations, weird people and people having fun without any significant story progression (don't expect romance either, at best it's about 3-4 girls that appear interested but it's all a joke in the end and they're just used for comedy), it's similar to the simpsons, family guy and various similar long running series in that it's purely episodic and has no real plot, just trying to make the audience laugh, though the similarities end there. 8/10. Will keep on reading it until the author ends the series.
Did you see my subject? Congrats, you've read what this manga has to offer.
I find it genuinely baffling how this is rated so highly with terrible humour, poor art that has hardly improved in 150 chapters, and forced situations to develop relationships between the cast.
But not funny. I don't get all the positive reviews. There's no plot, the "romance" is non-existent, and all the characters are morons.
The story is so random or atleast difficult to follow that it feels like a "free for all" for the author , also there are too many characters in the manga although it is aware of it , The main characters are not shallow and do have some seemingly reasonable backstory in terms of a gag manga , the art style is good enough for this type of manga ( dunno why you people want JoJo-like art detail or other similar art style here ) . Right now the romance is kinda a bit like unrequited love as the MC kinda doesn't think of anyone as that or atleast is not interested in that stuff . The comedy is also not bad ( some got me wheezing ) it relies on its absurdness, character reaction and interaction and some cliches for that, other than that its good. The harem part of this story is not as bad as the other ones , the harem participants aren't as clingy as super glue to the MC , they give him reasonable personal space unlike the others and also some of the "main" girls don't actually feel anything to the MC and just want to be friends. Now the MC's density is kinda explainable like his tiny interest to romance or he finds the girls' flirting to be quite annoying , other than that he can be considered a normal harem owner if not for his violent tendencies. His hair is also like a self cockblock device since it prevents most of the cliches that involve the upper torso area from happening especially the head.
Good overall and I'm waiting for next chapter to appear since it takes weeks for one to appear
This is a gag manga in the same vein as Fujimura-kun Meitsu, though where the humor in the latter leaned towards perverted stuff, here it's been more about comedy violence.
In any case, there's hardly any plot to speak of, but so far (chapters 1-6) the jokes have been great in both quantity and quality.
I can see why some don't like the sometimes randomness but it's one of my favorite comedy manga, the interactions between the characters are great and the underlying message that femoids bring nothing but evil and harm just adds to everything good about it.
I laughed at this manga so much I don't know if there's a need for commenting. Seriously, there's nothing serious about this manga. It's pure comedy and nothing else. Of course there is a love between some of the characters but that's only for the Tsundere characters and such. Absolutely everything is for the sake of a good freaking laugh. Of course, if you're here for a story with a great plot and all that, you're going to be disappointed.
Really, read this if you like stupid comedy (again, you won't find anything else in this, except maybe some cute characters but overall, this is a Gag manga all the way through)
Also, I loooooove Funaboshi =3
When I first started reading this, I was really confused and had no idea what the hell was happening. Sometimes, I still don't. It'll throw in random description of things that make no sense and I don't care about, so I just skip them and am not too lost that I can't appreciate the humor.
At first I was shipping Roka x Kazama. I'll admit, she was the cutest of the four. But then Takao and Funabori showed up and now Roka severely annoys me and I'm content on if he chooses either Funabori or Takao, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Takao, who is purty dang cute in her antics!
Plus, dandy teacher? Pssh! I don't even understand his story but I love whenever he shows up!
But I digress. I shall get to the point. The manga, despite being confusing and pointless at times, still manages to bring a smile to my face and I would recommend it. 😀
