I enjoy some aspects but the whole production seems rushed. It's like almost no planning has gone into the story or setting beyond the beginning and the author is just desperately making it up as they go along to keep up with the release schedule.
I can see that he has improved his writing in some aspects, but in general it is worse than his previous work. I was really surprised to find out that he made mistakes in this new story that he avoided in Tokyo Ghoul.
Pure kinography
As a huge Tokyo Ghoul fan, I've been waiting for Ishida's next work and it's finally here! With less than 10 chapters out at the time of this comment, there's a lot of overlap in supernatural worldbuilding: ghoul & choujin dynamics but the deutertagonist set up with Azuma and Tokio (or maybe something more sinister) will be exciting to explore. It really feels like Ishida is having a lot more fun with this series considering the irregular update schedule and there are some truly unpredictable out of the blue chapters. I look forward to all the surprises and more and really expending the realm of powers and potential; TG was confined to appendage based skills, but none of those restrictions are in Choujin X. I also think Ishida's strength in symbology and motifs carry through here so far - with his trademark insect/flora imagery. <3
