    When illusions are present in a story there are four methods I particularly like to see been well done: Strenght, were the character power surpasses the conjurer, it was Kohaku in this case and it is well done; Acceptance, when the character no matter the hurt or happiness of the illusion accepts that what has passed is done; Rejection, were the character knows without a shred of doubt that what they see is fake; Anger, were the character is offended by someone using something painful or precious to them in order to hurt.

    These are only baseline concepts, how they are handled is the important part, they can even be mixed together. Can't be sure until the next chapter but I feel Cleo's case was "acceptance" and "anger", he has shown that whatever happens in his life he accepts as part of it, and those parts are precious for his character so he would accept someone messing with it.
