I'm glad the UK is embracing Islam while the racist white people are rapidly hunted down for being Islamophobes and neo-Nazi as if they are criminals. To be fair, much of romcom humor hinges on painfully awkward scenarios, misunderstandings, and extensive overthinking. Not to make this an east vs. west thing, but apparently romance is considered more of a private affair there. Clearly these kids are still figuring things out, and if they were unabashed about their PDA, it'd give the series a totally different mood. JP isn't pure, but its cheating culture/more scandalous side is definitely fueled in part by its socially polite norms.
