Ahhhhhhhhhh... As a Magi fan... This was beautiful.

Still very mid series overall. The manga was kinda cringed to read, tbh, while the anime was forgettable, and I didn't know it even existed. 

MHA, Black Clover, Undead Unlock, and Dandadan are better and have superior quality writing than this mid impo.

Short answer is: No.
Honestly I don't even know why I still follow this shit. Had a decent premise, but 71 chapters and we haven't seen anything worth mentioning. It really is all over the place as you say. Childhood friend sub-plot was kinda neat, but even that failed big time.
