    From what I understand, the manga focuses almost entirely on Kumoko, whereas the LN gives some time to the other students who were isekai'd alongside Kumoko.

    It's not really a true sequel. It takes place after the events of Gilgamesh in the same universe, but it is a standalone story that you can enjoy without having to have read Gilgamesh. That being said I do recommend Gilgamesh as it was a good story and you will recognize some of the characters.
