In a world recovering from an environmental catastrophe that caused the eruption of Mount Fuji and the flooding of Yokohama, humanity's time is waning. Alpha Hatsuseno, an android, runs a small café named after her, located just outside Yokohama. With her owner away on an indefinite trip, Alpha has taken on the responsibility of managing the café. Despite the lack of customers, she remains optimistic and friendly.
While waiting for her owner to return, Alpha explores the surrounding area on her scooter, camera in hand. During her travels, she encounters various people and other androids, creating cherished memories along the way.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is a serene and beautiful story focusing on Alpha's daily life, highlighting the gentle passage of time in everyday moments.
The manga won the Seiun Award for Best Manga in 2007. Three drama CDs were released in 2002, with Hekiru Shiina voicing Alpha and Akiko Nakagawa voicing Kokone, roles they reprised in the two OVA series.
The series was published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment in five omnibus volumes, released between August 9, 2022, and August 6, 2024.
