Set at the end of the 22nd century on Earth, the world has turned cold and harsh. After numerous wars have ravaged the land, the earth has become barren, and everyday comforts are strictly controlled by the military, top corporations, and high-ranking officials. Most people endure through sheer tenacity, living amidst crime and poverty. The narrative centers around Kotobuki, a former thief who wanders in search of an honest job to abandon her thieving past. She is accompanied by Raimon, a genius who once pursued her as a military commander but has now resigned to follow his dream of being with her. Their aspirations to leave behind their old lives are constantly disrupted by individuals seeking "Tsubasa," a legendary device rumored to grant wishes. It is said that Tsubasa appeared long ago, fulfilled everyone's desires, and then vanished into obscurity. Now, all types of people seek it and try to leverage Kotobuki's and Raimon's skills to find it. Included one-shot: Volume 1: Knockin' on the Wall "Tsubasa wo Motsu Mono" was published in English as "Tsubasa: Those With Wings" by Tokyopop as a 2-in-1 edition from March 17 to November 3, 2009. The Singapore-based publisher Chuang Yi Publishing has also released the title in English, though in a standard tankoubon format.
