The summary doesn't do this series any justice - not even close.
Searching for a compelling story, intriguing characters, and an overall satisfying series? You might want to look somewhere else.
This series is simply atrocious - a complete waste of your precious time.
The only saving grace here is the art, which admittedly is above average.
I really don't feel like delving deep into each category. I'll just put it out there:
If you have no regard for your free time and wish to squander it on an egotistical, talentless author's work, and read something that will leave you with a bitter aftertaste, confuse you repeatedly throughout its tedious journey, and ultimately infuriate you - by all means, dive into this series. I highly recommend it if that's what you're seeking. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and pick up something worthwhile, like Akumetsu.
This manga is a wild ride, but to truly enjoy it, you need to stay committed. It may sound strange, but there are some peculiar chapters that require multiple readings to grasp the point. Despite this, it's a fantastic manga overall.
Story
The narrative revolves around a war involving 12 families with extraordinary abilities. (Trust me, it's not just another school tournament fight.) Sometimes, the story takes detours, which tie back to the main plot and serve as explanations. In my opinion, the story is amazing. Don't judge the manga by its anime adaptation; the anime is merely a starting point, a warm-up for the manga (this applies to all manga, I believe).
Art
If you're familiar with Oh!Great's work, you'll find the art amazing. If not, it might take some time to get used to it. However, in every way, it's excellent, and I can't say anything negative about it.
Character
The characters are well-developed, and what I like most about them is that the main characters aren't your typical honest fighters. They fight dirty (though other characters do too, but I thought this was a good point ^^;), and I don't think I've seen similar characters before. Be assured they aren't your regular types. Each character has an intriguing backstory.
Enjoyment
I thoroughly enjoyed this manga and hope it doesn't end soon. It's an exceptional manga within its genre, so if you're into action/fight scenes, don't miss out on this one!
This manga kicks off impressively, delivering an enjoyable experience initially, but it starts to lose steam about two-thirds through and ends up feeling rushed towards the conclusion. This is likely due to the author's decision to shift focus to their more popular series, Air Gear. In terms of artwork, you won't be let down; there's great detail and sharp lines throughout. The content includes a fair amount of humor, gore, and nudity, making it unsuitable for younger readers. As you progress, especially towards the end, it becomes quite verbose, reinforcing that rushed sensation, so I wouldn't recommend this series for casual reading. Some characters are well-developed, while others are neglected, with side stories left unresolved, again pointing to that hurried pace. I'm disappointed with the latter part of the series, which led me to lower my original score from ten to eight. Ladies, keep in mind this is a seinen for a reason, so don't expect a love story or light-hearted drama.
