Sounds like one of those games where the story was super interesting up until the MC gets involved, to be perfectly honest.

I loved the anime but the manga really does a better job of portraying all the diff elements in the story. The anime was more focused on cool flying mages fighting a world war, being led by a psychopathic gender bent loli
