First and foremost, this is an anthology, a fact that isn't highlighted in the advertising. None of the stories interlink, and the promotional blurb misleads even concerning the story it references. Nonetheless, the back cover description is fairly accurate. Not every tale falls under yaoi or boys' love genres, nor are they all love stories per se, although love does weave through each narrative. A fair share of unexpected twists punctuates most of the tales. Some pieces barely progress; instead, they set a mood, present a fact, then deliver a punchline akin to a joke—a haiku in visual form.
The remaining three narratives are more developed, resembling traditional storytelling but lean heavily on their concluding twists rather than substantial resolutions. Two tales within this collection could be categorized as science fiction or fantasy, while only one might be considered a conventional love story—the titular piece. The artwork is commendably drawn, though not exceptional.
Character development varies; some stories offer glimpses into characters' growth, whereas the shorter vignettes mentioned earlier lack any depth. The final story stands out with the most character evolution, serving as its focal point. My feelings towards these stories are mixed. I found no value in reading the shorter tales again, as they hold no reread potential. Two others wouldn't entice me for a second read, and the title story might only merit revisiting if utterly bored. This suggests that the stories' impact hinges too much on their secretive endings, rendering them less engaging once revealed. Consequently, the art alone cannot compensate for this deficiency.
