"Shounen Shoujo" is a collection of short stories by Satoshi Fukushima. The 28 chapters share a common theme: the dynamics between males and females, particularly boys and girls.
Each story explores entirely new subjects. Characters range from young musicians to football-playing girls, aliens, pop stars, samurai, yakuza, seniors, and even caries bacteria.
Some stories continue across chapters. One central narrative (with an episode in each volume) revolves around Yoshiko, a girl who accidentally pushes her friend into a deep fountain, leading to his death. Haunted by guilt, she now feels responsible towards the boy's younger brother, Goro. Readers follow their uncertain relationship over time.
Despite its name, "Shounen Shoujo" is not intended for children. The stories often end abruptly, leaving much room for interpretation.
