King Dietrich of Bern, along with his loyal advisor Hildebrand, has received an invitation from a neighboring kingdom. A beautiful princess has summoned them. She aims to host a tournament to gauge the strength of her fiancé and find the mightiest warrior in the land. The prize for the victor is a wreath of roses from her private garden and a tender kiss.
Though Dietrich prefers to remain at home, he embarks on the journey when Hildebrand decides to go without him. Upon arriving at the tournament, the somewhat gloomy king shows little interest in participating in what he sees as a pointless game. However, Hildebrand cleverly persuades him to join the fray.
The question remains: will Dietrich be able to overcome Siegfried, who has scales like a dragon?
