It's the story of 14-year-old Kotobuki-chan, a junior high school girl who one day spots a trendy fashion store while shopping with friends. What catches Kotobuki's eye is not just the store but the man she sees through its window. His name is Hodaka-san, the owner of the store and the designer behind all its clothing. Kotobuki develops a serious crush on Hodaka-san and spends much of her time at the cafe across the street, simply watching him work.
One day, things change when Hodaka and two of his friends come to the cafe and ask to sit at Kotobuki's table because all other seats are taken. To blend in, Kotobuki lies about her age, claiming to be 20 years old and a college student. Hodaka-san is 26, and Kotobuki fears he won't like her knowing she's only 14. She feels thrilled when Hodaka's friends tease her, asking which of them she'd choose as a boyfriend, and she picks Hodaka-san. The guys laugh and jokingly call Kotobuki Hodaka's girlfriend. After this, Kotobuki frequents the shop more often and even works there sometimes, maintaining her false identity.
However, eventually, the truth comes out, straining the relationship between Kotobuki and Hodaka. With Kotobuki being so much younger and still in school, can their connection ever work? Can Hodaka genuinely care for someone so young?
