In a nutshell, this is an over-the-top fanservice comedy that initially captivated me in the early chapters but eventually turned repetitive and dull as I progressed. The concept is simple yet absurd, effectively setting the stage for potential humor. However, I wouldn't recommend it for its story since the plot and character development are quite generic, though this is somewhat excusable within this genre.
The characters in this tale are fairly average, neither particularly likable nor dislikable, with the exception of Irene and Minayo, whom I found somewhat appealing. Elyse, the female lead, is a textbook example of a generic tsundere with little unique characterization. The same applies to the male lead and most of the antagonists.
The artwork shines when it comes to illustrating cute (often nude) girls and lewd scenes, but there isn't much else noteworthy about it.
Scores:
Story: 4/10
Art: 6.5/10
Characters: 5/10
Enjoyment: 5.5/10
Overall: 5/10
*Scores are based on 5 being considered average.
My initial enjoyment of this manga was around an 8/10 for the first few chapters, but it gradually declined to become boring around the halfway point. By the final five to ten chapters, my enjoyment had dropped to about 3/10. Hence, I averaged the enjoyment factor to 5.5/10. While I'm among those who appreciate fanservice and lewdness in manga and anime, when that's all you offer, it's difficult to score highly. Ultimately, this manga's main draws were near-hentai levels of fanservice, decent art quality, and a few good jokes that got overused.
This manga is worth trying if you fit its target demographic, but be prepared for the jokes and premise to wear thin before reaching the end. Overall, in my opinion, this manga is just okay.
Oretama is a borderline hentai comedy anime centered on Kouta, a 19-year-old virgin who inadvertently becomes entangled in a conflict between angels and devils. In a comical twist, a high-ranking demon gets trapped in his testicles. We follow Kouta's bizarre journey as he attempts to remain abstinent for thirty days while finding himself in the most sexually charged situations of his life.
Story: 6/10
The storyline of Oretama is outrageously raunchy and humorous. It essentially revolves around the author's efforts to incorporate diverse sexual scenes into the manga. Although the writing can be sloppy and at times unbearable, the straightforward dialogue is forgivable due to its readability. The explanations for some plot points are weak but acceptable considering the story's length. While the narrative is novel and entertaining, it lacks depth in terms of writing quality. Nonetheless, it remains one of the manga's stronger aspects.
Characters: 6/10
Kouta can be somewhat annoying occasionally, yet his character is generally acceptable. The main cast is rather basic but brings humor in their own ways, with new characters introduced to keep things lively. The characters aren't exceptional, but their quirks provide amusement.
Art: 6/10
The artwork could have been improved, but there are no significant complaints. At times, it was overly raunchy, but this was necessary to convey the story effectively.
Enjoyment: 6/10
Despite its filthy nature, I found the manga somewhat enjoyable and funny at moments. Although I didn't aim to read slowly or pay attention to "details" towards the end, I just wanted to finish it. The ending felt satisfactory given my time investment and seemed okay overall.
In summary, Oretama was a reasonably enjoyable read. It featured a unique story and some amusing comedy. Overall rating: 6/10
Stacy, please understand that premature ejaculation is a completely normal issue. Have you ever read the manga "My Balls," where the protagonist has Satan sealed inside his scrotum? I feel just like him!
No, I don't actually have Satan sealed in my jewels; it's just like in the manga. I'm constantly surrounded by nearly naked, sexy women, so how can I help but fire off prematurely like a bad hitman? It's not my fault.
Is it really that ridiculous to believe that, much like the stunning and prodigious Kouta Satou, I'd have issues controlling my young man's erratic behavior because I spend all day every day avoiding increasingly ridiculous and titillating events with ridiculously sexy women?
No, no, I swear it's all true! It's almost as if forces from beyond our plane of existence are constantly conspiring to make me turn my underwear into a Jackson Pollock painting! In fact, that may be all that happens to me for 41 chapters straight!
Chapters? Are you catching on to the fact that this lazy metaphor is getting played out, and I haven't actually had my prostate destroyed by the most ridiculous No Nut November challenge ever committed to any medium, visual or otherwise?
Needless to say, I did not get laid that night.
When examining the title, synopsis, or score, Oretama may not seem particularly enticing at first glance. I'm certain many are deterred by these aspects without giving this masterpiece a fair chance. Note that I use the term "masterpiece" sincerely here.
In this review, I'll endeavor to elucidate why Oretama is so awesome!
Let's start with the genres. It's listed as "Comedy, Demons, Ecchi, Romance, Seinen," and Oretama delivers precisely on those fronts: it has demons, an endearing and satisfying romance, hardcore or borderline hentai ecchi content, some of the finest comedy I've encountered in manga, all within an enjoyable seinen setting that allows for more than what shounen series can offer.
Despite its absurd premise, the story is genuinely engaging. Saving the world while trying not to ejaculate for a month is certainly different from typical world-saving scenarios, but it makes it easier to empathize with the protagonist and understand the pressure—both psychological and physical—he experiences. As primarily an ecchi comedy, Oretama doesn't need overly deep themes or mind-blowing plot twists. It's simple, hilariously funny, and incredibly erotic—exactly what you'd expect from such a title.
The characters are similarly straightforward yet effective. They don't have complex backstories or intricate personalities. The main cast fits what one would anticipate from this type of title: an average protagonist and a tsundere girl, with a pretty, somewhat airheaded girl in the background. They aren't extraordinary but are pleasant to see and suit their roles well.
Then there are the side characters—from an old angel to the queen of hell and weekly demon girls targeting the protagonist. They were all fun and enjoyable to watch. Given the nature of this manga, these random demons pursuing Kohta's cum were crucial for comedic and erotic purposes. Even though some appeared only once, they were memorable. Personally, my favorite scene involved one of those side characters.
Regarding the art, Oretama excels where it counts—in the ecchi scenes. Overall, the manga isn't the most visually stunning, but the author truly shines in drawing erotic content. Oretama could serve better as fapping material than some hentai titles.
This manga has been atop my favorites list since I finished reading it. Revisiting Oretama now reinforces my opinion: it's the most entertaining and one of the most erotic mangas I know. Add an engaging story, satisfying romance, and a solid ending. In terms of enjoyment, Oretama is simply flawless.
As long as heavy ecchi doesn't bother you, you should enjoy this manga.
This story stands out significantly from typical manga, as it falls into the hentai category. Contrary to what some might assume, it isn't a harem; instead, it's more of a love triangle narrative because there are only two romantic interests involved. While there is a substantial sexual element, this doesn't classify it as a harem. Though I don't consider it a traditional manga, it is undoubtedly excellent.
The protagonist, who struggles with interacting with women, gets intoxicated one night and decides to relieve himself on a tree. Unfortunately for him, a demon that needed sealing was nearby. The angel responsible for the sealing misses her target and accidentally hits his right testicle. What follows is an absurd situation where he ends up with a demon sealed inside his testicle and must abstain from ejaculating for a month. However, the timeline representation in the story is poorly executed. Consequently, the entire demon realm (Hell) begins pursuing him, trying to make him climax.
During this chaotic time, his dream girl makes the first move and asks him out, which adds another layer of complexity to his predicament. To make matters worse, if he succumbs, humanity will be destroyed, and demons will reclaim Earth. When his girlfriend gets drunk, she transforms into a nymphomaniac. To prevent any mishaps, a young girl (loli) is dispatched to ensure he climaxes. He strikes a deal with her for his soul to stop anything from happening. Their relationship is peculiar and complex, too intricate to delve into here.
In summary, he manages to hold out longer than necessary, saving humanity, battling significant demons including Satan, losing his dream girlfriend, and ending up with the loli as his girlfriend. Interestingly, Satan is portrayed as female and falls in love with Michael after he subjugates her with his sexual prowess.
I found myself smiling throughout most of the story, bewildered by certain parts but enjoying it overall. This contrasts with the other reviews, one being negative and unfinished by the reviewer, and the other giving it the highest rating (which I wouldn't). It's worth the time to read; it might take about a week if you read sporadically, given there are roughly 40 chapters.
Oh man. I had so many good laughs with this one! My Balls is the most original thing I've ever read to this date. And I feel so sorry for the protagonist. Here is why:
So the whole thing starts when one night, our protagonist needs to take a pee. He finds a dark spot in a nearby park but by coincidence an angel was about to finish a spell to lock the demon queen of destruction inside a holy ball. Our protagonist happens to pee on that ball and the demon queen gets sealed inside his balls. So now, our virgin protagonist has the whole mankind resting on his shoulders (or should I say balls?). If he is to ejaculate during masturbation or sex, the demon queen will be released and all humankind is doomed to destruction. He must endure a whole month. And that month happens to be his lucky month according to a fortune teller. Hell is aware of this and they will send countless hot devils, each with their specialties. Maybe Satan herself may step into this (yes, Lucifer is a girl. According to the manga that is). But the first one to go is a young virgin minor devil who is tasked to make our protagonist ejaculate.
This is basically a recipe for awesomeness. I am one for adult perverted humor and this manga features quite a lot of fetishes, so it's something for everyone! The drawings are excellent and the whole setup was comfortable and easy to keep up with. The characters are funny and have unique personalities. And there is a nice balance of dialogue, drama, and the ecchi/fanservice. Not too much of any and the pace is great.
If you like hentai/ecchi in general, you won't be disappointed with this one! I had a great joy reading this and I think any fellow pervert would enjoy it as well. Funny, sexy, and a sorry protagonist who has the worst task in the world!
One of those rare ecchi manga that stands out not just for its fanservice but also for its characters.
Condensed version:
Why you might pick this up:
- Fanservice
- Elyse
- Character interactions
- Elyse X Kohta
- Interesting plot setup
Why you might skip this:
- Heavy fanservice (arguable)
- Weak ending
Long version:
Story-7: There is actually a story here, and it's decent, though the ending leaves something to be desired. The main character (MC) is yet another useless bum who's hopeless in life. In a bizarre accident, the Queen of Terror gets sealed inside his... well, you get the idea. To prevent the apocalypse, he mustn't climax. Yes, the story is as strange as its title suggests. As the narrative progresses, female demons (for some reason) try to seduce the MC to make him release their queen and thus dominate the world. You won't find an epic 'hero defeats the demon lord' storyline here, but the story is functional and provides ample opportunities for ecchi scenes. It’s neither special nor bad; it's just creative enough.
Characters-9: This is where the manga truly shines, in my opinion. We have Kohta Satou, the useless MC who could destroy the world if he ejaculates, and Elyse*, one of the lesser demons tasked with making him do just that. Kohta has a crush on his colleague, Minayo, but being the bumbling fool he is, he lacks the courage to ask her out. As the story unfolds, we see the MC trying to resist while hordes of demon girls use various fetishes to make him climax. Meanwhile, Elyse slowly falls in love with Kohta, and Kohta starts pursuing Minayo. The chemistry between Kohta and Elyse is among the best I've seen in ecchi romances. I genuinely felt the sparks flying between them, and I found myself rooting for Elyse even as Kohta advances with Minayo. It's one of the few reasons you might want to pick up this series. Well, that and maybe the ecchi.
*Just going to rant about Elyse here. She's one of the cutest, most beloved, and expressive tsundere pettanko characters I've seen in a long time. Every moment she spends with Kohta is never dull, from scolding each other to dates, to her crying when she sees Kohta enjoying sex with someone else and feeling helpless. Ok, rant over, back to the review.
Art-8: Being an ecchi series, the art is naturally good by default. All the curves are in the right places, and facial expressions perfectly complement the action. Characters are easily distinguishable, thanks to the unique appearances of all the different demons, who look like ecchi cosplayers.
Enjoyment-9: I initially came for the story but stayed for the characters. I expected a typical harem romcom with an overly dense MC, and I thought I'd end up admiring only the ecchi elements. Instead, I got an MC who becomes more likable and aware of the girls' feelings, a lead female character who is downright enjoyable (see rant), and good fanservice sprinkled throughout.
Overall-8: If you're looking for quality fanservice with likable characters, give this a shot if you can overlook the fanservice. The story is simple but doesn't commit any major sins. Let's be honest, you're here for the ecchi and characters, not the story. If you can't handle fanservice, skip this, but only after reading the first few chapters. It's entertaining, enjoyable, and features memorable characters, albeit let down by an ending that doesn’t do justice to the romance between Elyse and Kohta.
I was compelled to read this manga under the threat of being bombarded with spoilers for several anime, but surprisingly... I genuinely liked it. This is the first manga I've ever finished, and despite the abundance of what can only be described as fan-service, once you look past that aspect, it becomes quite enjoyable.
The storyline initially seems ridiculous, yet it’s both humorous and kept me thoroughly engaged. The characters were a major highlight; each one was incredibly likable and uproariously funny. Visually, the manga is impressive (though I don’t have much to compare it to), and overall, I had a great time reading it.
For anyone who enjoys a good laugh, I definitely recommend giving this manga a try!
