Oh God. This is my first review, so it's probably going to be terrible, but honestly, I couldn't care less. This might be one of the worst, if not the worst, manga I've ever read in my nearly decade-long journey as a fan of anime and manga. Stay far away from this trash if you value your sanity. I'm barely holding it together after reading about 100 chapters. First off, the characters. Oh God, the characters. Don't get attached to anyone—especially the female protagonist—because they will drive you absolutely insane. Characters do things that any person with common sense would know are wrong, yet they still go ahead and do them anyway. The art is probably the only redeeming feature of the entire series, though even that is likely only good because it's the sole reason anyone would bother reading this smut. All in all, screw this manga. Don't read it, don't watch the anime (yes, there is one), just... don't even glance at anything associated with this piece of garbage manga. Peace out.
It would have been better as an NTR hentai, allowing me to fap and easily get it over with. The story and characters, which began with a decent and wholesome premise, quickly went downhill further and further. The only things that improved were the art and colored panels. Around chapter 136, it made me so restless that I stopped waiting for translations and read the raws directly. Here's my short comment on everything that happened:
It is cheating and NTR, fully, no excuses, no over-estimation. With a premise where characters are in a relationship and things go awry, it's okay to hope for developments with side characters, but when they are married, it is totally unforgivable. I don't know if that sensei is just too trusting of Asami or has a really bad understanding of reality, but he is too forgiving for situations that'd lead to dire consequences in real life. This is fiction and doesn't need to emulate real-life scenarios, but when things take such a sharp turn that it even passes the supernatural, it is unacceptable. Asami is also no less than foolish. It is during the middle section of the manga that you will find yourself unable to root for or relate to anyone. However, I still continued reading hoping that they'd change. But no, foolishness can't be cured, and especially a couple who have nothing to do with each other but are overly kind to everyone else is just too much to cope with and nothing gets solved. They are just to be forgotten while they are still in the darkness.
TL;DR: The wife is faithful to her husband but is so foolish that she can't reject others' advances to the point of almost having sex with them. The husband is indecisive and suffers from sudden strokes of depression due to his wife's actions, but still trusts her too much. Both are good people as the author wants to portray.
Just divorce already!
P.S.: There is, technically, still a 'happy' ending.
What the hell.
That was my reaction to every chapter I read.
Okusama wa Joshikousei isn't particularly remarkable as a manga.
The storyline was mediocre, not especially unique, and quickly became irritating. They could have wrapped up the series around chapter 50.
The artwork was passable, though not my cup of tea, but that's subjective. Be warned: there are plenty of gratuitous shots of breasts and panties.
The characters were one-dimensional, aggravating, and sometimes downright bizarre. Kyousuke was the only character I somewhat appreciated.
Mizunosaki Sasuke was the absolute worst. I can't even describe how messed up that kid was; I was relieved when his appearances dwindled.
I'm uncertain if I truly enjoyed the manga. My overall sentiment is as mentioned above, yet I continued reading regardless.
EDIT: I'm still plowing through it, as the story has managed to hook me slightly.
Kyousuke was initially my favorite character, but he ruined everything spectacularly. The plot grows increasingly dramatic and awful. New, terrible characters are introduced while decent ones sabotage themselves. The main characters should just get divorced and end this toxic relationship.
EDIT 2: Finally finished the manga, and I'm glad it's over. The story deteriorated steadily with more dreadful characters added, some even worse than Mizunosaki.
The ending fell flat for me. Despite disliking the reading experience, it deserved a better conclusion. After the climax, they simply resumed their lives as if nothing had happened, rendering the preceding pages meaningless.
A fairly good shoujo/smut manga. I enjoyed the concept, and the characters are distinctive and well-crafted. I'm not quite sure how Onohara and Kyousuke ended up married, but whatever led to it, it places them in some intriguing scenarios x3
It stands out because the girl is more proactive in trying to seduce her husband. His cluelessness is pretty funny, though I can see it getting tiresome if it continues for too many more chapters. I haven't managed to read the entire manga yet, but I felt it warranted a review nonetheless. The plot so far doesn't extend much beyond the relationship between these two, but it's engaging and humorous.
The artwork is spectacular - beautifully designed characters (Kyousuke is adorable!) with none of the usual stick-thin manga girls. These are real women! Additionally, there are PLENTY of gorgeous colored pages; way more color than I've seen in any other manga, and it's such a delight. There are definitely a lot of ecchi scenes.
All in all, a fun read. I hope I can track down the rest of the chapters soon!
