    I don't think this is about his wanting to watch his mom suffer and die, as he is taking good care of her including washing and feeding her, I think he's genuinely wanting to look after his mom in her old age, and it is rather touching

    Read this after watching a bunch of the anime.

    The good: strong characters and characterization, real development, engaging twists.

    The bad: too many characters and plotlines means we sometimes lose focus on the protagonist and his supports, the occasional light-novel chapters in the back are aggressively meh.

    Worth the read IMO.

    LN and manga added some events and details which could make the story feel like dragging if you already read the WN
    WN is more straight to the point (or to put it negatively, it's barebone)

    i agree with the anime being shit though
