Megami Ibunroku: Persona

When Naoya Toudou is coerced into playing a seemingly innocent fortune-telling game called "Persona," he never anticipates summoning a girl who cries for assistance. Her anguished cries overwhelm Naoya's senses, causing him to awaken in an enigmatic place that straddles the line between consciousness and unconsciousness. There, he encounters a mysterious entity named Philemon, who bestows upon him the power to wield a "Persona"—a manifestation of an "other self." Naoya then finds himself waking up in the school's infirmary. Though his friends also remember meeting this same entity, they dismiss it as they head to the hospital to visit their ill friend, Maki Sonomura. During their visit, Sonomura vanishes during her surgery, and the patients within the hospital suddenly turn hostile. Cornered, each group member summons their Persona, which fends off the attackers, much to their astonishment. Worried about their friend, the group embarks on a quest to find Sonomura while gathering more information about the ominous situation they are in.
