It wasn't even good when it started but I've never seen a manga fall off so hard, the last few chapters have been hilariously bad. So overly melodramatic that its actually funny

toling, you got to remember the emphasis that's made on how little people know about how things work.  They don't know classes other than Explorer have "levels".  They don't really know about "mp".  They only know about things that can be tested with rigor or that's immediately obvious.  Anything beyond that is built purely on traditions put in place based on a mixture of feelsgood and success.  (Also, they don't have Michio XP hacks)

The "rules for blacksmiths" that Sherry keeps espousing looks like they're giving the apparentice a bunch of make-work, but it's really just an elaborate way of saying "you need to get levels for this much MP before you can do that".  And it's based on the xp-curve that a non-Michio party would have to endure.  This sort of over-detailed instruction-set is quite realistic since it models how successful traditions are created in the real world anyway.
