This story is about a little boy who is afraid of the world around him and only feels safe when he is completely hidden under the covers of his futon. To him, the futon acts as a kekkai, or spiritual barrier, that shields him from harm. When the boy is hospitalized, he finds a beautiful girl unconscious in another room, with her left hand protruding from under her blanket. The next time he visits her, he discovers that her left hand has been mysteriously cut off. He regrets not having placed her hand back under the blanket when he had the chance, believing that an evil spirit must have been responsible for cutting off her hand.
