From early childhood, Maki Takano, Ryo Arayama, Mei Sonokura, and Natsume Muroki have been confined within a school for gifted students. This institution enforces a strict "no going outside" rule and follows an intense educational curriculum. Despite these stringent regulations, the four lead comfortable lives, clinging to the promise of guaranteed success upon graduation.
However, their world shifts when Kiriko Hinatsu, a new girl, arrives at the academy.
Upon seeing Kiriko, Maki feels he has encountered her before, yet everyone, including his friends, insists they do not remember her. Doubting his own memory, Maki confronts Kiriko. She reveals she was once a student who managed to escape. Kiriko further discloses that the school is actually an experimental facility testing memory-altering drugs and other substances on the students.
Now aware of the truth, Maki is approached by Kiriko to assist her in escaping again and to join her. However, he hesitates to accept her offer. Leaving means finally experiencing the outside world he has long been denied; yet, it also means abandoning the safety and opportunities promised to him. For the sake of his future and his friends, Maki must decide what matters more: freedom in an unpredictable and chaotic world or comfort in a secure but restrictive environment.
