I get what you mean, but I think it was -suppose- to feel forced. Like, however the game heros were given sentience and autonomy might not 'really' have free will, like the fire general went on about during the "scripted event" that forced the Insect Queen's death.
Maybe I'm trying to make it better than it is because I really like the series, but I'm hoping this gets decently existential.
its a very good magical slice of life. I enjoy the amount of details they give from his appraisal and the boundless mechanic of magic. The art is simultaneously good and bad like they still don't know what they want. I believe the translation was quite bad in early chapters, can't remember. The characters are average quality. The only reason for reading this would be for the world building and the MC's magic.
