I stumbled upon this manga about a month ago, long before I actually started reading it. Initially, the cover art turned me off completely. For some inexplicable reason, I despised the character designs, especially Cain's. However, the adage "don't judge a book by its cover" proved true for me this time. I began reading it out of sheer boredom and fell in love with the manga within days, despite not having finished it yet.

    Story - 9
I discovered this manga through a recommendation related to Kuroshitsuji. Interestingly, GodChild reminded me a lot of Kuroshitsuji. Set in England during an era where masters and servants were as common as wild rice, the plot closely mirrored that of Kuroshitsuji if you've read the manga. The story primarily revolves around mysteries leading to a larger conflict. Essentially, the main character faces a significant problem but lacks clear clues to solve it. As he encounters various sub-mysteries throughout the story, these gradually connect, bringing him closer to resolving the primary issue. To me, GodChild features numerous twists, some gruesome deaths (though not overly gory), suspenseful events, and intriguing character thoughts, all contributing to a beautiful narrative.

    Art - 7
As mentioned earlier, I wasn't initially impressed with the art of GodChild. But once I started reading, my opinion changed. You do get used to the art style, making it acceptable. However, in my view, the artwork isn't particularly special. It's decent but doesn't stand out. The emotions depicted on characters' faces seem somewhat bland. Only when a character is shocked, dead, angry, or perhaps experiencing all three does the emotion truly resonate. Overall, the art was fine.

    Character - 8
I genuinely enjoyed the characters, though they reminded me significantly of Kuroshitsuji. There's an arrogant and brilliant master with a dark past, a loyal servant who does everything for his master, ironic mad characters, and a lovable girl whom the master wishes to protect. Character development was decent. Cain remained consistent throughout the chapters, except his determination to defeat his enemy grew stronger. Riff is a rather unremarkable character whose devotion to his master borders on self-sacrificial. At first, I didn't like Maryweather much in the early chapters because she seemed to hinder the protagonist, but later, she became more aware of his activities and wanted to help him, even though she still caused occasional trouble.

    Enjoyment - 9
I thoroughly enjoyed this manga and felt no disappointment. The fast-paced introduction of mysteries and characters instantly drew me in from the first chapter. I'm glad I took the time to read it.

    Overall - 9
Apart from the art and character aspects, this manga is a must-read. It's a suspenseful story that can easily captivate anyone who enjoys mysteries or ironic twists.

Dark, twisted, and beautiful. This manga is far from unicorns and butterflies; it delves into the dark side of human nature. It explores insanity and reveals just how twisted and evil some individuals can become. Despite its intense darkness and twisted narrative, it also highlights the strength of certain bonds that refuse to break.

The supernatural elements in God Child enhance the mystery and introduce unexpected twists and turns that no one could predict. The characters are meticulously crafted, with backstories that bring them vividly to life. You'll find yourself brimming with anger and hatred towards the villains, shouting at the page, "Why are you doing such a thing?" along with several colorful insults.

If you enjoy dark and twisted stories, then God Child is an absolute must-read. However, be warned: this story will move you deeply.
