that's why you always stick to the source material and check the adaptations if you feel like it/have spare time. most of them are there for the quick cash grab.

And yet, there are still those worth fighting for, providing us an opportunity to see past the despair of our cyclical nature and, instead, choose to fight for a moment (or possibly, a lifetime) of peace and happiness. And I truly think AOT displays this contradiction of existence (aka the cruelty of nature and mankind as a whole juxtaposed with the joy that comes from love and close bonds of friendship juxtaposed again with the violence that can come from bonds and so on) and many other aspects of the human experience in a way that accurately reflects reality.

Overall, I gotta give it a 10/10. I’d be very sad  and honestly surprised if the author was a fascist because I felt the subtext indicated a sane, rational, and, most importantly, radically empathetic (yet paradoxically, somewhat hopeless?) perspective on things I don’t see elsewhere.

The emperor is so interesting! In the present he so desperately wants his son to find love and be happy with a family (the cultural norms here do not seem to consider gay families acceptable), but objectively he has been portrayed (and seems to consider himself) as being outright monstrous (generally in the past, but his overreacting to handling his son's love life seems to inspire his inner despot). I wonder when he came to regret his actions.

You are right of course: he will love Chloe (maybe after a brief arc where he is hung up on her status before meeting her/learning of her identity).
