Seeing as it often talks about the mother's relationship with the father, is their relationship with their daughters ever shown? Mostly, the mothers focused on Ceres, who's an adult in a kid's body, on top of their failing marriages.
I get that doesn't excuse abandoning their friend for an asshole. It doesn't help that the world has weird rules. I can't help noticing that it seems the daughters take more after their fathers because they're selfish and make bad choices, which happens when children spend more time with one parent instead of both.
If your mothers are famous adventurers, even if they are retired then it wouldn't make sense if the daughters end up that dependent. It doesn't help that Ceres treats them like children or daughters despite being the same age, doing everything for them, instead of him being a friend and teaching them. Just to put them in this situation for the plot and to make people just hate them.
