Eien no With

Moving around frequently due to her father's job, third-grade student Hitomi Kurio has always found it challenging to make friends. Feeling isolated and overlooked, she dreams of having a dog but realizes that her family's constant relocations would not be suitable for a pet's well-being. When Hitomi learns about the "Happy Walkers" program, which allows families to raise potential guide dogs for a year, she is eager to become a trainer. After three months of thoroughly studying dog care, Hitomi is accepted into the program and meets her new four-legged companion, whom she names "Eye"—a name inspired by the Japanese word for "love." Despite Eye being timid and frail, Hitomi is determined to help Eye become the best guide dog in the world. She raises Eye with love and they develop a deep bond, but eventually, she must let him go when he is ready to work as a full-fledged guide dog.
