Seventh grader Hayashi Renei is haunted by a recurring strange dream. In this dream, her brother, who died in a car accident, returns to life as Coo. The dream repeats every night thereafter. Coo's world is harsher than reality, filled with pain, suffering, and sadness. Alongside Coo and others she meets in this dream world, Renei searches for her house, hoping to find a way back to the real world and the land of the living.
