Jirou Tenge, the second son of a once influential Japanese family, returns home after being held as a POW in an American camp during World War II. He finds his family has been corrupted by the harsh social aftermath of the war.
His elder brother, intent on preserving what's left of the family's estate following the government's forced land redistribution, has allowed his wife to be prostituted to their father to secure his blessing. Other family members have similarly fallen into corruption, and Jirou himself is coerced into spying for the Americans after his traumatic POW experience. Now, the youngest daughter, Ayako, will have to endure the consequences of her family's sins.
