    I don't like the ending but I do think people are missing the point. Eren gave societies a chance to progress without the threat of titans. All civilizations rise and fall but there shouldn't be a small group of demi-gods making decisions for everyone. Showing the boy finding the tree watching over the ruins shows that life carried on for centuries/millennia because of what Eren did and the sacrifices everyone made.
