The 22-year-old heads the main Pantasia branch and is a Harvard graduate with a diploma in Food Science (where he had a girlfriend named Cathy, but they parted ways when he had to return to Japan). His true passion and talent lie in food tasting, an area where he excels.

Despite his strict, no-nonsense demeanor, he has a quirky side that emerges through his pun-based reactions to the delicious bread he taste-tests. Once, in a bizarre incident, he married an extremely unattractive woman just for the sake of a pun (he divorced her five minutes later). He was once Ken's student, but Ken's behavior drove Ryo away.
