Position: First Baseman Yūhei was recruited to Seishū High School by Coach Daimon to join the first-string team. He is an outstanding batter and currently serves as the cleanup hitter at Seishū. Yūhei struggles with remembering names and faces, mentioning that he only retains those of people who are worth caring about. However, he does remember Kō Kitamura. By the end of his first year, Yūhei had lost some faith in Coach Daimon and the baseball team. Yet, witnessing Kō's skills during a practice game convinces him to remain at Seishū after Daimon's dismissal. Yūhei's drive to reach Kōshien stems from guilt over his older brother, Junpei Azuma. Junpei's promising baseball career ended when he injured his leg saving Yūhei from falling down a staircase. This guilt transforms Yūhei's desire to reach Kōshien into an obsession. Since then, he has become highly sensitive to children playing near stairs and situations where someone's carelessness affects others. Initially, this sensitivity made him appear cold and indifferent towards others, as he focused solely on reaching Kōshien. Over time, he begins to enjoy the game more, focusing less on outcomes and more on performance, making friends along the way. As Junpei's happiness grows more genuine throughout the series, Kōshien becomes more of a personal dream or goal rather than a means to atone for his brother.
