Birthday: November 13
A talented oboe player who falls for Nodame at first sight, unaware of her true nature, and performs the inaugural solo of the R☆S orchestra. His calm and quiet demeanor leads many in the R☆S orchestra to view him as "samurai-like."
After discovering Nodame's true personality, Kuroki is initially crushed and distracted but eventually becomes a close friend to both Nodame and Chiaki. He joins them in studying abroad in France. There, he struggles to adapt to the language, people, and culture, making it difficult for him to socialize and make friends.
His awkward and reserved nature earns him the nickname "Glauque" from Tanya, meaning dark and depressing, also referring to a greenish-blue hue. Despite this, they seem to grow closer over time. Kuroki later joins the Roux-Marlet Orchestra, conducted by Chiaki.
