A freelance journalist investigating Kinderheim 511, he becomes involved in the search for Johan and decides to assist Tenma.
Having been a subject at Kinderheim 511, he developed an alternate personality—an aggressive fighter that emerges under extreme stress, inspired by his childhood admiration for a TV character similar to the Incredible Hulk, whom he calls the Magnificent Steiner. After his time at Kinderheim 511, he received training as a spy. He does not know his real name and allows others to call him Grimmer Wolfgang.
During the Ruhenheim Massacre, after witnessing a citizen's death, he gains control over his alternate personality and manages to kill four of the village's murderers in a suicidal act. He dies shortly after in front of Tenma, Franz Bonaparta, and Wim.
