A military officer from a lesser noble family, he is easily recognized by his heterochromatic eyes — the left one sepia and the right one golden — and his blonde hair. He has numerous sisters, with Nefert being the most prominent. His name is sometimes written as Usr Ramses.
Ramses first meets Yuri during a patrol near the Egyptian-Hittite border while waiting for Zannanza's caravan. Intrigued by her cleverness and bravery in averting a war between Egypt and the Hittites after Zannanza's assassination, he requests to be stationed in Hattusa as a military liaison. His true motive is revealed when he later kidnaps Yuri, revealing his ambition to become the next pharaoh by overthrowing the corrupt leaders of the 18th Dynasty. To achieve this, he needs a woman of equal caliber, like Yuri, to be his future queen.
His first two attempts to kidnap her are thwarted by Kail. A third attempt succeeds when Rusafa, desperate and seeking help, contacts Ramses when Yuri is weakened and near death following a shipwreck that also causes her to have a miscarriage. After Rusafa escapes and informs Kail that Yuri survived the wreck, Kail sends Ilbani, Hadi, Ryui, and Shala to Egypt. By now, Ramses, who initially wanted Yuri solely for his ambitions, has genuinely fallen in love with her. However, soon after Kail's servants arrive, Egyptian soldiers arrest Yuri for interfering with an official’s attempt to cut off a child's hand. Instead, Ramses goes to Queen Nefertiti's palace in her place. After Yuri rescues him from certain death at Nefertiti's hands, he gives her a document from Nefertiti's palace that reveals Nakia's betrayal before she returns to Kail.
Later, Ramses and Kail engage in a battle that ends in a draw, and Ramses accepts defeat. He asks Yuri to bear a daughter who would marry his son (a wish that does not come to pass but is eventually fulfilled by their grandchildren, Yuri Naptera and Maripas). He eventually becomes Ramses I, the first Pharaoh of the Egyptian 19th Dynasty.
