At first glance, Tsubasa appears to be a little girl due to her petite stature and youthful appearance. She's adorable, prone to whining and pouting—your typical fifteen-year-old girl who is beloved by everyone. Like anyone else, Tsubasa has her likes and dislikes, with a significant dislike for men. Time and again, she gets hurt by the men in her life. For instance, her longtime friend Soichirou was her crush, and she intended to confess her feelings once they started high school. However, due to a skateboard accident, she doesn't attend Hokuei High School until later in the series, only to find that Soichirou is already with Yukino. Later on, she discovers that her father, who has cared for her since her mother passed away, plans to remarry. Tsubasa had hoped to be the only girl in both Soichirou and her father’s lives, believing this would make them all happy. When she learns that they are allowing other women into their lives, she feels devastated and even lonelier.
When she finally meets her step-brother, Kazuma, she finds herself falling for him despite her initial opposition to her father's remarriage. Tsubasa stands out as one of Kare Kano's most dynamic characters as she learns to open up to the world again. She matures and learns to accept painful realities. Although she initially doesn’t get along with some people, like Yukino, she eventually grows fond of them and forms strong attachments. Tsubasa may seem like just another character “there,” but she is much more complex. Despite her cute, childlike behavior (which includes an overindulgence in sweets), she experiences a wide range of emotions and thinks deeply. In time, she learns to become independent and realizes that happiness comes from taking action rather than wallowing in self-pity. Tsubasa is more than just a pretty face; she embodies what "girl power" truly means. There is something truly remarkable about our princess.
Tsubasa is often seen as the baby of the group in Kare Kano. You'll frequently find her munching on candy during lunchtime. In the anime, she shows a love for Totoro, while in the manga, she adores big cats. When Tsubasa is in a bad mood, she can become violent and scratch people. Despite her occasional violent tendencies, deep down, Tsubasa is like a real princess. This makes sense given that the "hime" in her name translates to "princess" in Japanese. She is also a good homemaker, taking excellent care of her father and their home.
