The Corporal is the spirit that haunts the radio Harvey always carries. He was a soldier in a war eighty years ago, killed by Harvey. Now, he assists Harvey and Kieli on their journey.
Harvey vowed to return the Corporal to his grave so he could rest in peace. Upon reaching their destination, the Corporal forgives Harvey for his death, acknowledging it as an inevitable part of war. Before departing, he encourages Harvey to stay with Kieli, seeing through Harvey's plan to end his life at the old mine.
When Harvey and Kieli are attacked, and Harvey's core is taken by the Church's soldiers, the Corporal returns. He saves Harvey from temporary death by briefly possessing his body and helps retrieve Harvey's core with Kieli's assistance, reviving him. After this, he chooses to continue accompanying them on their journey.
Over time, the Corporal forms a strong bond with Kieli, wanting to protect her and see her happy. His relationship with Harvey is built on mutual trust and occasional annoyance. They often argue due to Harvey's indifferent behavior towards Kieli. In volume 3, one of their arguments escalates nearly leading to their deaths and the destruction of a town.
Despite their conflicts, the Corporal understands Harvey deeply. When Harvey decides to leave Kieli and him at the end of volume 3, the Corporal accepts this decision calmly, only ensuring that Harvey intends to return.
