He appears in various flashbacks throughout the series but assumes a more significant role in Kinnikuman (2011). The KIN Mark is located on his forehead. Mayumi Kinniku recounts a story to Kinnikuman during the finals of the 21st Choujin Olympics: The Big Fight. In this tale, Tatsunori Kinniku is described as a great warrior. During one particular war, he narrowly avoided capture. Those who caught him attempted to remove his mask, but in self-defense, he employed a technique known as the Niku Curtain. Despite being subjected to punches and kicks for several days, he never lowered his arms or relinquished his guard. Eventually, his captors gave up, allowing him to preserve his mask. In the anime, he uses the Kinniku Guard for 3 months to protect his mask during a Space Samurai invasion on Planet Kinniku.
